The process
consultation
Your bespoke design process begins with an initial consultation to discuss your ideas, budget and really drill down to what inspirations you have for your garden. This is mostly you talking and me listening.
This detailed fact finding meeting will pave the way for me to plan your outdoor space so that it meets its full potential. In short I ensure it will suit you, the building, the surroundings and your intended use. I will complete your design with beautiful naturalistic planting, demonstrating my passion for creating sustainable, biodiverse gardens.
Your personal design pack will include elements of the following:
design
Initial consultation and survey* // Research around the project brief // Annotated rendered colour plan view of the design to scale // Suggested planting theme // Suggested materials for hard landscaping aspects //Colour rendered sketches from different perspectives // Concept images presentation page // Dedicated Pinterest board // Delivered and presented in person (virtual delivery available with prior arrangement due to factors such as distance) // Travel charges** in addition where applicable and will be advised at time of booking.
construction
All technical drawings required; elevations, cross sections, basic lighting etc // Specification/schedule of works // Introduction to 'tried and tested' experienced tradespeople (location dependent) // Collation of quotes // Liaison with landscaper and tradespeople before and during the build, including measuring and setting out // Available for troubleshooting advice throughout the build // All reasonable site visits included during the build process (subject to travel charges** where applicable and will be advised at time of booking).
planting
It is proven that gardens planted to work with their natural environment fare much better in the long run, which is why I use plants sourced for the correct aspect and soil conditions for each garden.
Site visit to measure the planting space prior to creating the plan // Research of suitable plants for soil, land use, climate and project brief // Preparation of initial plant list for discussion // Preparation of a detailed list of plants including ideal size, quantity, planting location and use of each plant e.g. filler or feature plants // Colour planting plan with key (garden design not included) // Sourcing and ordering of the plants from specialist trade suppliers (benefiting from reduced plant costs through my trade discount relationships) // The setting out of the plants - please note that the garden preparation and planting of the plants will be charged in addition (this section may also be done in stages depending on season and availability of plants) // Visits to check on progress of plants one week and one month later // Travel charges** in addition where applicable and will be advised at time of booking.
brainstorming
A one hour brainstorming session held in your space/garden // All ideas generated, sketches*** and notes will be written up and provided following the session // Available for troubleshooting advice/planting advice/design advice // Suggested use: for inspiration and generating ideas. Often a good starting place pre design // Can be undertaken virtually // Travel charges** in addition where applicable and will be advised at time of booking // Gift vouchers available on request.
styling
I also offer a styling service, which includes elements such as: Installing and updating window boxes // Garden preparation for an event // Creating a wow factor for your old space.
