a bit about me, my mission and my vision

Sarah Croud

I started my garden design studies at Writtle College and have many years experience working as a garden designer. I attained a diploma in organic gardening and a certificate in soil management. I am also an RHS volunteer, forming part of the purple team at the RHS Chelsea Flower show in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. More recently, I have been accepted to study for a certificate in construction design drawing with the London College of Garden Design (Sept 2024 - April 2025).

A front garden project I designed and implemented in 2017 won Chelmsford City Councils ‘Best Sustainable Garden’ award.

Since 2022 I have been working with a local community group, ‘Grassroots Westcliff’ to improve our local green spaces. I designed, and we successfully built and planted, a pocket park at the entrance to Westcliff on Sea train station in 2023. In 2024, we updated and improved another 4 more community green spaces, with many more projects in the pipeline for this year. The committee works tirelessly to secure funding through grants and fundraising and we have developed a wonderful relationship with Southend on Sea City Council Parks Department. We currently have over 500 members.
